The Ozark Social

The next Ozark Social
is scheduled for Spring 2022

DO YOU HAVE A STORY TO SHARE ABOUT MIRACLES?

Miracles can be big or small. Even a butterfly emerging from it’s cocoon is a miracle. If you’d like to share a story, spoken word, performance piece, song, etc. please email amber@amberperrodin.com

All storytellers receive a small stipend for their bravery.

June 2021 Ozark Social

Our first in-person Ozark Social took place at 214 South Main Street in downtown Springdale, Arkansas on June 20, 2021. In celebration of community and the Summer Solstice we gathered a dozen brave storytellers to share about their Ozark experience.

From Lakota ceremony songs, life as an LGBTQ in the south, a near death experience, grief from suicide, being a transplant in the Ozarks, and poetry and song interwoven between these themes, the Ozark Social brought a group of strangers together and made them friends through their shared human experience.

March 2021, Virtual Ozark Social

Our March 2021 virtual Ozark Social was a hybrid experience of live storytelling, video and audio performance, and interactive games designed to bring audiences together to witness, reflect, and connect across our common humanity.  This performance was a component of the Ozark Story Project, an extension of Looking for America, a national initiative exploring immigration and American identity in dynamic communities across the United States through public art, storytelling, and dialogue. Over 50 people joined us virtually as we celebrated and shared our Ozark experiences.
